Older music is outselling new music!

Keep in mind that's comparing the last 18 months to *everything else* - decades. But still, it's cool that older stuff is still valuable. Now if only I could convince my 12 yo daughter that any movie or music more than ~2-3 years old might still be worth watching or listening to...

I like how it says new music was out sold by catalogue music. How they define catalogue "released more than 18 months ago". Wow , that is so 2014!! That is definitely older music!!

In my experience, in just about every "modern" song I listen to, I can tell instantly that it is a derivative from group xx in the 1960s or group yy in the 1970s etc. No originality.

That reminds me of the opening verse to the song Stressed Out by twenty one pilots:
I wish I found some better sounds no one’s ever heard,
I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words,
I wish I found some chords in an order that is new,
I wish I didn't have to rhyme every time I sang
