Problems with "Home" blu-ray

Anyone else have the BD of Home yet? I've been anxiously awaiting this one for a while, and when it showed up a few days ago, we immediately set to watching it - but there was a serious problem with video/audio stuttering. Even in the top-menu background scene, it would occasionally stop and go in short bursts (don't know how else to describe it), and same with the movie itself, happened several times in the first ~10 minutes of the movie, to the point where we just couldn't watch it, it was so aggravating. We sent that one back and got a replacement yesterday. I tried it this morning, same exact thing, though maybe not quite as bad, not sure, but it seemed to happen in the same places. I did discover that if I pause the movie for a few seconds, it'll work ok when unpaused. And if I rewind ~30 sec and watch the same segment again, it'd work ok then too. It's very weird.

Anyone having this issue? Dunno if it's just my (old) bd player or what.

When I first got my Panasonic, ALL movies did what you described Pauly. I think I turned off the Deep Color setting or something like that and it fixed it.

Huh... ok I'll check for something like that, dunno if my sony (an old bdp-s370) has such a thing. But I've watched a gazillion other blu-rays on it, never had a problem like this before.

I assume you dropped a known good disc in the player after the problematic one and had no problems.

Probably, doubt they've updated such an old player since I last checked. I'll check again tomorrow though just to make sure.

Well, the disc played fine on the PS3, so I guess there's some weird issue with this movie and this particular player.

I must already have the latest for this player, just tried an update now and it just says "already updated."

Oh well, not a huge deal. Fortunately I had an alternate player - though admittedly the loud fan on my (old model) PS3 drove me a bit crazy.

I don't own the bluray but bought the HDX digital copy for $3.50 and watched that last night. No stuttering or dropouts at all. Cute movie. One of the things I love about digital copies. Buy bluray quality streams for 5.00 or less. No disc taking up space and the digital copy is linked up to five family members so basically the movie was 70 cents per family member to watch anytime they want.

Cool. Well if I had paid a lot of money for this player, I would be more upset. But I got it for $50 off ebay about 5 years ago and otherwise it's performed just fine for BD and SACD (the latter being the main reason I got a sony).
