Retrofreshingly honest old cereal commercial!!!

It makes no pretensions about being "part of a balanced breakfast". You don't see little Johnny and Susie sitting at the kitchen table with a bowl of cereal flanked by a glass of orange juice and buttered toast. 1950's-era Post just called it what it was (and still is!). Now that was truth in advertising.

Ha! That's true.

But I just realized a mistake on my part. In the scene later on where the kids are sitting at the kitchen table, there DOES appear to be buttered toast---and COFFEE!!!???!! So I guess I can infer that buttered toast is part of a balanced (possibly nutritious?) diet. But they weren't totally blatant about it like they were in the 1980s.

Regardless, I like how they lay the focus on rather thick:

-Eat it as a cereal with milk (or cream!)
-Eat it as a snack any time of day (and I do!)
-Eat it as CANDY!!!! right out of the box.
