War Never Changes
Famous
Its a bit busy at work, and for what its worth, i was able to watch this yesterday only because i had food poisoning the day before. called it in.

I never was quite familiar with Oliver stones material, aside from recently watching Alexander i recall him in Any given sunday, JFK er...and the corruptor.

I know he is also within the same timeline as Ford Coppola, and was referred to him in certain light.

Savages started out on the heavy end, and loved how its emulated itself into one narrative. its a rarity that we find ourselves listening to one storyteller, and start the movie not with a flashback but with a 'once upon a time' feel. yes, there is a difference.

Sex, drugs and ... Oliver stone.

In a nutshell, this movie isnt an action movie. Its more or less a drama. Think of it as Any Given Sunday and how different it was, revealing certain aspects of it, and putting it on a silver platter for you to digest. then finding out later what it was.

Its a great rental for me, but id have to say in a technical aspect, the surrounds were used pretty much to a point it was a bit annoying. Like a false reverb.

Anyways, gotta go.

Forgot to mention, you will HATE del toro in this movie. and man, he played the role to a TEE.

he was great, but also f*cking irritating. his accent wasnt something id appreciate, but his body language, his actions, movement shows veteran status.

I hated him before this movie! :happy-smileygiantred: Seriously, have never been able to stand him, even when he was an evil henchman in a Bond movie.

I haven't seen this movie yet, and had high hopes for it, but it sounded like it got panned by the critics and everyone else. I can't remember the name of the star of this, but he is getting know for having a curse about him. Same guy as the lead in John Carter, and there was one other movie that was supposed to be a block buster that bombed.

Watched this one this morning.

Oliver Stone is a hit or miss director IMO, never sure if you will see a good movie or a stincker but this was a good one. At first it didn't catch me but after about a half hour iy got good.

One thing I noticed was a similarity with True Romance. Particularly in the female narration and the foreshadowing in that narration. And the both had a drug component. There are some other common things but I don't want to put in any spoilers at this time.

I also have not been a big del Toro fan but he did here what he does best, playing a nasty, mean MFing SOB.

Definitely a recommended rental, at the right price I might buy.

Petey had no idea WTF was going on so he went to sleep and didn't watch.

I'm gonna have to check it out, if for nothing else than Selma Hayek!

Salma hayek in this movie was underrated. as much as they have put in this movie, they shouldve pushed more into her buildup, hows and what ifs.

her acting tho is impeccable.

Mzpro got it spot on too. im not a big fan of stone, but when theres drugs, sex and a threesome, its on.
