Seaton Sound Catalyst

Matt, Matt, Matt... we've been over this a billion and one times: The size of the amplifier really doesn't matter and it isn't a measure of performance or quality. You called out the amp size and little else.

These look like they could be very good on paper. The drivers they have are extremely good and that amplifier/DSP combo is one of the the best out there. The cabinets could be better, but that's already a ton of expense of the drivers and electronics. A perfect enclosure could easily double the selling price while offering only a 20% improvement in sound quality.

However, the proof is in the pudding. Just because the components this guy used are great, that doesn't mean the speakers sound good. They need to be listened to, or I need to see a ton more measurement data on them, before I could tell if they are any good.

I vaguely remember something about a Mark Seaton? Did he post st the old site?

Flint hence why I wanted your opinion. Personally why would anyone need 300 watts for a tweeter. That to me is insane. I do like the dual 12's in a speaker. I figure this would make one big ass center channel. According to the thread I read people are saying the sound from these is very very good but for 3,500 a speaker I would assume so and I also assume these would be just for the biggest of HT rooms.

Flint, you know about Matt and his obsession with the size of things.

I am pretty sure he was with them. He designed subwoofers for AV 123, if I recall correctly.

You do...

The MFW-15 subwoofer is part of the next generation of subwoofers from AV123.com. The ~100 pound MFW-15 subwoofer, starting at $599 each, was designed from the ground up by AV123's Mark Schifter and renowned subwoofer guru Mark Seaton.
