Sony BDP-S790 has arrived

Well finally almost all my surround sound/SACD have been solved with the addition of a Sony BDP-S790 Bluray player. It even recognizes my Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon SACD. Which my bluray player of last year BDP-S780 failed to even recognize a disc having even been loaded.

It is also playing very nice with my Integra 40.1 controller, the soft touch buttons that light up on the top edge of player are kind of cool too. My only real complaint is I wish Sony would give up the ghost and let their players be truly universal and play DVD-A in it's native format instead of playing it in Dolby Digital.

Had I known my problems down the road, I would held off on a bluray player that had dual HDMI's. For what I have spent now I could have had an Oppo 93

im watching this thread too...

does it do dvd-audio tho? :happy-smileygiantred:

i hate that i have my oppo at the other house and no one uses the sacds/dvd-audio's i have aside from tigerlily (natalie merchant)... oh well.

Or better, just take all the titles released on DVD-A and re-release them on SACD and dump DVD-A. I like not having to fire up a display to navigate a disc. When it comes to convenience and simplicity, SACD trumps DVD-A.

Amen, Brother! :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap:

Mmmmm,I didn't even know you had to do that to get to play in the DVD-A format. I just push play and it goes straight to Dolby Digital and starts playing.

I have been looking for the S790 and haven't found it anywhere except on line. For some strange reason I like to look, touch, feel the equipment then go order it on line.

So bottom line you really like it? The reviews I saw compaired it very favorably to playstation bluray.

Isn't there a spell check somewhare? I can't find it and I can't spell.
