Actually, reaching the top must be thrilling and the sights I'm sure very few people experience. I could never do it that's for sure, I prefer hobbies where the margin for DEATH is a bit less. But good for the people who have the skill and desire to enjoy something like that... :eusa-clap:
The climber I posted about earlier, Alex Honnuld, won the speed record this year in Turkey.
He is dating my best friends daughter, He will also be featured on 60 Minutes in June and here is a link to an article in Outside that centers on his free solo climbing (climbing with no rope and no one to assist you). Other climbers describe him as a bit reckless.
I have been going to the rock gym since October, I hardly have the stamina and strength to scale a 45' wall with hand and foot holds. It takes about 2-3 minutes steady with no stops to scale a level 8 (for reference beginners climb 5's and the highest at our gym is 13) When I come down I'm breathing heavy and my muscles in my forearms are so filled with potassium they are hard as rocks. So I can tell you that this guys strength and conditioning is about as high as you can get. I think he is nuts....think I'll stay in the gym!!
