Sub for approx. $400?

Hi all - putting together a basement media room in an open area. It's the "secondary" system. Looking for a decent sub, center, and receiver. I have some old Klipsch towers (KSF-8.5), a to-be-purchased Klipsch RC-52 II, and some Klipsch in-ceiling speakers that were installed when we built the house. Receiver is an open question but considering Denon 1913.

What I don't have a good idea about is the sub. I bought an inexpensive Polk sub (PSW10) for our FR but not impressed so would like to do better. Any recommendations for a sub around $400? I know some SVS but I bought the PC Ultra back in 2004(?) and haven't looked at them much lately. How are Power Sound subs?

if you can spare another extra $100, you can purchase the SVS PB-1000 if you want a movie specific sub hitting 19hz give or take, or get the SB-1000 which is a sealed sub, more musical in purpose.

Both are great purchases in my opinion. Heck you can also go the whole avs route, and get two of the Klipsch $299 subs at newegg.com... but that puts you 200 in the red.

but they're klipsch and would match em golden baffles.

Probably just go with 1 though. I do like those golden baffles. How are Klipsch subs, specifically the RW-10D?
 
Well you can also look at the Dayton 10" from parts express that Flint alwasu recommends. I still want to do one of those, but I don't currently have a use for it,
 
cant say anything about the klipsch subs tho, sorry goalie.

for what its worth, ive seen some very good responses from owners, and well, its a 299 sub and when you double that, of course you get a better even response depending on how big the room would be.

i like the pb-1000, i think it might fit your needs.

but lets see what the others would recommend as well. the bic from amazon might also be a good consideration, since its 200 i think a pop. you can get two again. :happy-smileygiantred:

Here's the recommended Dayton Titanic sub.
 
I've run across SVS subs on Craigslist a handful of times and they are normally in the $200-300 range.

I'd be patient and hold out for one.
