Fingers crossed... I've got a chance to acquire a pair of Tannoy Berkeleys.
Original owner. No visible issues with the drivers. I had a quick / cursory look at them today and it appears that they've never been re-coned / had the surrounds changed - and would therefore conclude that the crossovers are all-original as well. But the situation is that I won't be able to put them through their paces before I take possession.
Acquiring and refurbishing "vintage" speakers is not new to me - but this would be my first pair of Tannoys.
I've heard their bigger brother (the Arden) quite a number of years ago and was way impressed. Both speakers use the same HPD 385A driver. The only real difference is the Arden's bigger cabinet (and resulting 5Hz lower bass extension.) Sonically they should sound almost identical.
If I do the deal for them in a few days, I'll then decide whether these need a refurb, and whether I plan to keep them or flip them.
Anyone out there have any first-hand experience with these speakers?
Jeff
