Technics is back!

It appears Panasonic is bringing Technics back, in a big way.

I love the words they are using.

Interesting that the one thing that comes to mind when I hear Technics is "turntable" yet, other than on the video's intro shot, there's nothing in that 7+ minutes to do with turntables. It's all about their speakers and electronics being able to handle today's high res music formats.

Nothing wrong with that. Just observing.

I'd also like to have a listen some time to that big pair of speakers - again something that I'd never associated Technics with.

Nice. My electric piano is a Technics... I've had it for ~18 years and it's still going strong.

Back the 1980s, Technics was synonymous with quality and value. I had an integrated amp from them, as well as a great turntable and two cassette decks, which were amazing values. I had a friend with an amazing receiver with their logo on it. They were amazingly good for the money, as was Aiwa.

Then Panasonic killed the brand by putting their logo on shitty low end all in one systems, boom boxes, and crappy pseudo-component systems.

They also made some amazing flat diaphragm speakers which were much better than they should have been.

I miss those days, and the new image aligns with that old image. Let's see what they release.

That's the first time I've heard them called "speakers"...
What can I say John. Some things just talk to me in special ways - and vice versa.
