The Men That Built America on the History channel Tuesday evenings is a must for anyone that wants to learn about the growth of America.

The first one was primarily about "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt and John D. Rockefeller. Largely "dramatization s" the history is pretty accurate.

I highly recommend.

Now as they say "check your local listings" but EST normally 9:00 PM.

This Tuesday they are repeating the first two episodes starting at 7:00 EST.

Not sure what time you hippies in California are on. :teasing-neener:

I thought the show was pretty good. I know the dramatization was added to make the show more 'entertaining' but it was still hard to swallow the fact that Rockefeller was such a jackass that he would purposefully put a quarter of a million people out of work just to prove a point to a competitor.

Swallow it - completely true. He was the classic SOB.

JD being from Cleveland I have studied him some and the show was very accurate in stating winning was everything for him. He had no problem losing money if he came out at the top.

Also a very different time with very different attitudes towards the "common man".

we used the apple tv and purchased the complete serries for playback plan to watch one or two tonight and tomorow along with that submarine series.
