Today Disney and LucasFilm announced that the Star Wars: Episode VII, will be released on December 18, 2015. At least part of the project will be filmed in IMAX.

The original Star Wars book set was Nine volumes. Its now an interesting race to see if I (or G. Lucas) can see all nine in my lifetime!

Disney didn't buy that franchise to produce 3 films and then bow out....we'll see 3 more in the next 6-9 years plus several spin offs, etc...Disney will give the fans all they could've hoped for and more!

I think I'll wait until 2025 before I buy any of these movies on (whatever format we'll have then). That way, it'll give George enough time to change them again and again.

Or Zing you can just buy em on laserdisc and enjoy them in all their unmolested glory. :happy-smileygiantred:

That and the earlier THX remastered editions (ones with the stormtrooper, Vader, and Yoda covers).

If I recall, due to some complications, Lucas shrunk it down to 6 episodes. IOW, episode 6 was supposed to be 9. But I could be wrong. Maybe one of you SW gurus can chime in.

Lucas has reportedly said a couple of different things about that. One version is that he originally wrote 6 chapters and planned for a couple of spinoffs (one with all robot, a Wookie movie, one about Yoda). He's also been reported to have said he's planned on a nine chapter story arc (without spinoffs).

I take everything Lucas says or writes with a grain of salt.

I thought the same thing when I saw a commercial for the Extended Version Bluray of the Hobbit.
