The Sound of Music - Live

PRETTY HAPPY.........

Did anyone else watch this? And what did you think?

I thought that it was good, not great.

I am still puzzled why they thought it would be a good idea to do it live?

(I guess Rope will post a link?)

I for one much prefer live performances. I'd have very little interest in watcing this in any other format.

Would a live performance be better if it were being broadcast live from the theater while it happens or if it were recorded and replayed later with editing other than to break for commercials?

Personally, I don't give a crap about a performance being shown live as it was being performed.

I think watching this live last night, had very little impact whether it was live or recorded.

Live, on TV does not have the impact (obviously) as being in the theater, So once again the impact and the reason to televise it Live was meaningless to me........

:twocents-mytwocents:

The Live aspect was hype. I recorded it on my DVR and will watch it whenever. Who cares when it was recorded?

Should have been renamed "The Sound of Farts" and presented live.

What I meant was that I'd prefer to watch performances that are "live" in the sense that they aren't edited to remove every tiny flaw. That's not to say that I don't enjoy edited productions at all.

Is this the one with Carrie Underwood as the lead role? If so, how did she do? I'm not a big fan of tSoM, but as good as Carrie is I also wonder if she would do Julie Andrews character any justice.

Her singing was very good, acting..................well that is another story, not so good.

Most of the other actor's/singers were Tony Award winning performers.................

On another note about LIVE events.

Last night we watched the 2013 Sprint Cup Awards Banquet, LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS on Fox Sports 2. These types of Live performances are fun!

They should've gotten Kelly Clarkson, instead. Not only can she sing, but she's a great actress. Didn't she win a Kazaamie for her performance in 2003s "From Justin To Kelly"?

"Kazaamie"?

One of our S&V "ratings" for back in the day. Example, I think the Yes album Fragile is rated at 5 Kazaamies. Kazaam was the man who got that ball rolling.

I'm diggin' that avatar Kazaam. LOL!

painful, watched her do do-re-mi, and it was off pace and er... akward.

and this is from a country fan and a sound of music fan as well...

its available by the way on amazon for purchase.

I heard some samples on iTunes. Thought the music (of those samples) was respectable. Doesn't
Surprise me that the acting was bad. But a little surprised not all the music was good, of that's what you're saying?

At least some folks got to make money. And maybe some kids enjoyed it enough to explore the Von Trapps and/or the original film.
