I haven't read this yet (need to cut/paste/print so I'm not reading white type on a black background, the stupidest thing ever) but it looked like a good read.

For anyone that's ever said Klipsch speakers are bright and harsh, I invite them to listen to a pair of NS-10's. Hellen Keller could hear high hat cymbals on these things.

I always had a pair in my studio, because tracks which were tuned to sound great on those speakers tended to sound great on nearly any speaker out there.

They must do something right because they were the de facto standard for many years. But the two times I've heard them, it was as if the treble (and treble only) was boosted by about 60dB.

I thought they sounded awful. But, if you mix audio to sound good on them, that audio sounded good just about everywhere. So, I used them as a reference and corrected EQ and mix balance on them as a quick way to get really close to ideal. Then I could save hours on comparing the mix & EQ on dozens of different speakers and headphones.
