THX purchased by Razer

Flint

Prodigal Son
Superstar
That's right. The company best known for gaming mice, controllers, and keyboards just purchased THX, the audio company.

Too be fair, THX improved the quality of theaters and lower end consumer audio during a time when the market was dying. They haven't done much since then.

They've been "certifying" almost anything that a manufacturer will pay a license for. What next, THX certified condoms?

I think we all owe a great deal of thanks to THX it was Lucas who saw Star Wars in a theater and realized the audio was horrible compared to what he heard in the studio. He revolutionized audio standards for theaters which in turn trickled down to home theater. Buy him offering THX certifified gear he caused companies to up their game and finally producing quality home equipment that we can all enjoy. Granted not everyone will buy THC certification like Denon but Denon realized if they were going to compete against companies like Pioneer and Onkyo who do pay for certification they need to build a product just as good and they have. I think we now have surround sound due to THX as I'm old enough to remember when going to a movie as a kid everything was just in stereo.

Sure THX may not do much lately but we do owe them a debt of thanks for what they have done.
