Transformers 4 To Star Mark Wahlberg, Open On June 27, 2014

Director Michael Bay has confirmed that actor Mark Wahlberg will star in the upcoming Transformers 4 movie, which hits cinemas nationwide on June 27, 2014. Bay revealed that his decision to pick Wahlberg was due to the actor’s exceptional performance during filming of Pain and Gain, which airs April of next year.

Filming for Transformers 4 starts next spring, though no locations have been mentioned. Importantly, none of the human characters from the first three movies are set to return.

No automakers have been mentioned with the film, though it's highly likely that General Motors will remain a partner. After all, everyone will be expecting Bumblebee to turn into a bright yellow Camaro.

The fourth installment will be a sequel to 2011's Transformers 3 - Dark of the Moon, though it is expected to be a more serious take on the giant robot-fighting franchise.

Bay will once again serve as director, while another Hollywood legend, Steven Spielberg, has been named as one of the movie’s executive producers.

:laughing-lettersrofl: With the exception of Wahlberg, sounds like how every TF was initially marketed. I'll go see it when it comes out, but I can hardly say I'm excited since Bay is STILL in charge...

I like Bay, he was responsible for the Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th remakes and they were done really well.

I own the third transformers on blu but have yet to watch it, but I will say that without even seeing it I am sure its better without the lead chick (horrible actress with hammer thumbs) from the first two and this one should be better without shia lablahblah.

A more serious Transformers? We are still talking about cars turning into robots right? LOL!

I am also a Michael Bay fan. Yeah his films have lots of stuff blowing up and the plots are weak but I find his films entertaining without having to exercise the old noggin. Bad Boys, Armageddon, Transformers great popcorn flicks :happy-smileygiantred:

Bay is a hack, he brings people to the theater with action and explosions and NO substance. Lets market the TF at kids and teens and then have every other line be a poorly executed toilet/adult joke (ha, ha). I get that you can only get so serious with the material. But a good story CAN be told and and still be "light"...

Pretty much all of Hollywood is a hack anymore. The guy that did the Batman flicks has a certian "tone" or "feel" to his movies (Batman or otherwise), he found that it works and he stays with it. Ridley Scott has a formula and so does Tarantino. All hacks?

I like shit blowing up and I like when humor is in the mix.

Have you seen the Chainsaw remake? Pretty much a balls out horror flick with little to no fluff involved.

I agree. Imagine how shitty the Avengers would have been if Bay were directing. I love sophomoric humor just as much as the next guy, but his is just insulting and predictable.

I'm going into this with an open mind. I actually like Mark Wahlberg, he's a very versatile actor who is great in pretty much any role he plays. Heck even that crappy M. Night Shamaladingdong movie "The Happening" was a God awful flick but Mark actually was great as an actor in that. Granted we are talking Michael Bay but maybe he can go back to fun story telling like he did in "The Rock" with a good cast. Anything is better than Shia LaDouche and rapping robots hopefully this cast change will bring about change in direction too.

Hey I can hope.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they did a little cross promotion, and Marky Mark actually played Dirk Diggler fighting and fucking his way through the transformers? On a side note, never ever eat a brownie that Kazaam gives you. :teasing-tease:

Mark is too good for this shitty franchise. I have to make it through more than ten minutes of any of the former films. The longest scene I hah seen was when Tee forced it on me. The term "hate" doesn't do justice to my feelings on these movies.

Take it back!

:angry-tappingfoot:

I take it back. I didn't mean the Avengers was a shitty movie. It's the greatest of the comic movies, but it would have been a shitty movie if Bay had directed it.

You guys want to make a great Transformers movie? Then go back to animation and get rid of Bay and any sponsor that can't handle the thought of sharing space within a 120 minute film. Another thing that sucked about Transformers was the fact that all the Autobots were GM vehicles.

And bring back Frank Welker. He is Megatron (nothing against Hugo Weaving).

Two in one day....I must be on a roll. LOL!

Bats,

If it helps, I like the Batman movies (ones with Bale) the best as far as DC goes.

Sorry I'm just a Marvel fan. Nothing against DC, I do like them, but just like Marvel better.

Just teasing dude!! :eek:bscene-drinkingcheers:

Almost ban-stick worthy though... :happy-smileygiantred:

I like Marvel better then DC too, main reason, I have yet to see a Superman I liked.

I do really like the new Batman movies, I like that they are darker and more violent. Only problem for me is Bale, he drives me nuts every time he talks while being the Bat.
