Vudu Finally Added HDR10 Support!

Vudu started offering DolbyVision HDR quite awhile ago, but had no love for those of us languishing in the land of HDR10. They just announced that HDR10 will be supported. There are only 30 movies to start, but it will eventually extend to all of their UHD offerings. Another exciting bit is that they will now support HDR on the higher-end Roku boxes, as well as the NVidia Shield TV. Until now, they only offered it on a small subset of smart TVs.

I was partly holding back on UHD purchases because of the lack of HDR10 and device support, but I think I will definitely start spending the extra coin on a more regular basis.

My industry friend claim the DolbyVision version is, indeed, a superior tech, but they are mixed on whether the licensing fee us justified over HDR10.

From everything I've read, Dolby Vision is better. The problem is that a huge percentage of HDR sets do not support it, especially the first couple generations. Fortunately for me, UHD Blu-Ray, Netflix, Amazon and now Vudu all support HDR10.
