WKRP is finally done right!!!

Flint

Prodigal Son
Superstar
Whoop!!!

This is one of the funniest shows ever and was done a great disservice when they attempted to release it DVD without royalty rights to the original rock music from the broadcast series.

Now they are releasing it on DVD (it was shot on tape, so Bluray would be overkill) with the original soundtrack. I cannot wait. It is a little pricey, so it may be my on my Christmas list.

I read a few months ago that they were "still negotiating" to get the rights to all the music. Did that happen?

I'm just wondering if they got all the music or just some of it...

Found it.

From the product description...
Please note: Where possible, original music from the series is included in this release. Over 90% of the original music is contained in the set. Missing music is due to inability to obtain rights for some content.

From one of the reviews from someone who claims to have seen/heard the set...
Music Edits: This seems to be foremost on everyone's mind. MOST of the music is there, SOME of it isn't. IN a few cases entire scenes have been reedited and slightly changed to eliminate certain songs that Shout could not obtain the music clearance rights to. All 3 of The Beatles songs are missing, while the McCartney song remains. No Pink Floyd .. In the end, no big deal as "Turkey's Away" still flies high! OH, the humanity!

Jennifer's doorbell is flying to the moon while Les's toupee is again accompanied by "Hot Blooded".. Classic! "The Contest Nobody Can Win" retains All the original contest songs but the very end of the show has been reedited to eliminate "A Lotta Love".. "Hoodlum Rock" is totally unedited so we get Scum of the Earth's full song at the end..... RUFF!!! RUFF RUFF !!! That's it for you then !

I saw this show a few times, and all I really remember was the buxom blonde with the white teeth. Don't remember a strong emphasis on the music at all, d'Oh.

Dammit Flint, now you've got that bloody WKRP theme song jingle going in my head and I can't get it out! AAAAAAHHHHHH!

I never watched this show much. I think the humor was way over my head at the time it was on live tv, and I didn't get it. Might be interesting to see some of these again...

Loved this show and may have to pick this up. Good to see they got most of the rights to the songs. As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly. Classic!

This, along with Taxi, are two of the funniest shows from that era. I'll definitely have to add this to my collection.

Okay Pauly for you I'm gonna try and sing the song all from memory from a show I haven't seen in forever here's hoping I don't mangle the lyrics.

Baby, have you ever wondered
Wondered what ever became of me.
I'm living on the air in Cincinnati
Cincinnati WKRP

Got tired of doing the packing and unpacking
Town to town up and down the dial
Maybe you and me were never meant to be
Just maybe think of me once in awhile

I'll be at WKRP in Cincinnati.

Pretty sure I mangled that up somewhere but it's one of those theme songs like "Cheers" that gets stuck with you.

This is another great example of the many ways in which our "intellectual property" laws are badly broken.
