I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
S2E2 sure felt that way. It didn't advance the narrative of the show. Now, it's possible that S2E3 will do so and this was setting it up. Sometimes that happens. Even S2E1 did something (caught a glimpse of you-know-who at the tail end).
Still, X Wings. I like X Wings. But SO. MANY. SPIDERS.
I never got into any of those. I have watched The Office in syndication, but it's hit or miss for me- sometimes outright hilarious, sometimes so cringey-humor that I can't keep watching.
Yeah, it's possible to get WAY too hung up on "how it is SUPPOSED" to sound. Director's (or musician's) intent and all that. That's fine, they can listen to it that way in their own homes and cars. Honestly, I suspect that at least half of the settings don't do one thing that most of us can pick...
I don't even remember seeing the THX setting on mine (I have a 4.3). I used the room calibration tool, then adjusted using a SPL meter and for personal preference. One of the things I did was set my sub crossover to 120Hz while also sending the bass to the mains. I just prefer how it blends...
The whole deal with THX was that it was intended to be something that if your home theater was all THX certified and such, your experience at home would meet a certain baseline that would relatively faithfully reproduce the movie theater experience.
For amplifiers, it meant certain power...
Yeah, the rare times when we're down there and it's in the 60s are amusing to us. To me, that's knocking on shorts weather. Floridians are all in jackets and hoodies.
Just found this- looks like DirecTV HBO subscribers will get HBO Max too. So I guess we'll have it too.
I'll keep an eye out for the Apple TV app.

Yeah, it looks like HBO Max essentially is HBO Go/Now but adds other stuff in an effort to compete with Netflix and Disney+. They say Charter and AT&T TV customers will get it added for free- I wonder if that includes DirecTV, since that's now owned by AT&T.
All this is making the days of...
Is this replacing HBO Now or HBO go?
They're getting pretty confusing here- thus far, Go has been what you get if you subscribe to HBO via a traditional provider (like DirecTV or Comcast), Now was standalone. But is this replacing Now? Is it yet another thing? If it's yet another added service...
Watched Onward on Disney+.
Enjoyable, but not compelling. Not Pixar's best, not their worst. I can't even put my finger on anything about it that was missing, it just didn't grab me.
We binged the second season of Disney Fairytale Weddings over the weekend.
We still can't believe how much money people drop on those. I'm not a wedding show kind of guy, but I get amused at where/how Disney does that stuff.
Cat 5e is good for gigabit levels
Cat 6 has a tighter twist to the pairs allowing for two way communications and higher speeds on shorter runs (10Gb)
Cat 7 has yet more shielding, and the pairs themselves are shielded. This shielding must be grounded. So you're getting longer runs at those...
This one is NOT 4K, but I am putting it here as an example of one I've bought that works:

I bought this one for use at church on our A/V cart- I wanted to strip the audio out of the HDMI signal before...
I wonder how many parents, seeing the episode where he froze his charge in carbonite, looked at their young children, thought about their last vacation road trip, and sighed wistfully.
Remember in A New Hope the admirals were talking about how the Force is a superstition... and they'd have been plenty old enough to remember the Jedi. Han Solo referred to the Jedi as a hokey old religion. So I think it's realistic that they heard The Child (the official name of the character)...
