Hsu gets a lot of love, the Monoprice Monolith subs, Rythmik, Power Sound Audio. So many good choices and it seems like you're going to get very similar performance at a given price point (see caveat about SVS). When it's time to take it up a notch I'd say JTR is the way to go.
We have lot of bass-heads in the area who are on AVS Forum and they did a shootout several years ago featuring a variety of sealed, ported, and horn-loaded subwoofers. It's pretty funny reading their reactions as they each realized they couldn't tell what they were listening to...
The problem with SVS now is their subs are over-priced compared to other brands because of their return policy. So a $600 SVS sub might only give the performance of, say, a $500 Hsu sub but you get that 45 day return window. Just something to think about...
We started watching this over the weekend. The first episode definitely tried a little too hard to parody a 50's sitcom but the following episodes did a better job of not going totally over-the-top. Interested to see how it plays out...
I didn't notice any issues with the picture quality. I...
The missing screw issue has been reported to Hegel but I don't intend to ship it back unless they instruct me to do so. It's hooked up and sounding good - pretty much the same as the Anthem pre/pro and amp combination that it replaced. It does sound better than the old Integra 5.1 AVR that was...
Found where there's a screw missing and it shouldn't be a big deal:
Of course I unboxed it in the HT on black carpet so I haven't been able to find the screw. It doesn't sound like it's inside the case so that's good. Talked to the dealer and he thinks it should be fine to run as-is. Part of...
I shipped out my Anthem components on Monday afternoon and they arrived at the dealership on Wednesday. Dealership tested them and just emailed me tracking info for the Hegel. Fingers crossed for Saturday delivery.
One thing I failed to mention earlier... After moving the C1s out to the living...
I did something that I know is total overkill and probably not worth it, but in my defense I was offered MUCH more than expected for the Anthem pre/pro and amp on trade-in. Plus, it's so, so beautiful in its simplicity:
It'll be a few weeks before I get it but this will drive the C1s in the...
I did end up putting the C1s in the living room a couple weeks back and Angela immediately noticed how much better they sounded - it was pretty cool seeing her reaction. They'll be moving there permanently later in the week because...
I ordered a pair of Evoke 30s for surround duty in the HT...
