I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
As you may remember, we got hit by lightning a couple months ago and my RPTV's convergence went out. I was able to manually adjust it so we've been watching a slightly blurred set for awhile. My insurance covered a lot of items we lost, including the tree, but gave us 700 bucks to replace the...
Epson 5020 here. I sit 9 ft from a 92" screen and the picture is stunning.
I can also watch football with the drapes open without issue. PJ's advancements over the past few years requires you to check them out. I will always have a PJ in my dedicated room.
I watched Hidden Figures with my daughter last weekend. I wasn't too excited initially....but that was a great Film. Excellent film making and I highly recommend it. Many good discussion topics afterward as well.
See....this is what I'm saying. I know TV's have always had pros and cons depending on technology (CRT Direct view; RPTV; Plasma) but I think, on the whole, the negatives didn't seem to be as great as they are now. Screen looks good from straight on, but 20 degrees of center and lose 50%...
Time for a quick rant.
What the fuck happened to displays over the past couple years?
Now, unless I want to shell out big bucks, there's one technology. LED/LCD.
Although, 2 types of panels. ISP and VA.
Manufacturers use both, and don't always specify which.
ISP - OK for off angle viewing...
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm in the Flint category so I'll take a look at Vizio. Last time I was looking at sets Vizio was considered crap, picture and QC wise.
I'm going to miss my tv. I bought it right after finding out my wife was pregnant 12 years ago. Replaced a 32" tube.
So our tree in the front yard got hit with lightning the other night. Going through our house to find all the damage (there is quite a bit, from the garage door, to landscape lights I installed myself over a 2 month period - actually, I'm most pissed about this....front and back yard, low...
I just watched a documentary about a tribe in the Amazon and during part of this, three kids were hungry and wanted a snack. They went into the jungle, used a stick to "tease" a giant tarantula out of it's hole, caught it by hand careful not to get bitten or have the hairs touch them (use of a...
I'm sure you'll figure out a way to attach the panels to the windows in a temporary fashion. Just some slick engineering design needed....
Prior to diffusors........Bass traps.
Loved the book. Purposely never saw the tv series as I didnt want to alter the images I had of the characters. That trailer does look like it may follow the book closely. I'm in.
Just an update. I've been really loving this sub for close to a year now, with the sound being different than a ported sub. Seen many movies, had the couch vibrate.....but.
A couple weekends ago I borrowed "Edge of Tomorrow" with Tom Cruise. Turned the volume up, slightly louder than normal...
The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas
My 11 year old daughter read this book and enjoyed it, so we decided to see the movie. I don't believe she fully understood the acts depicted until she saw the movie, but it opened up an excellent discussion on human behavior, war, and how racism (in this case...
