Sony bluray players and HDMI-CEC “power-off TV” problem?

Appreciate it, but no need to if you haven’t checked yet. I was playing around with HDMI-CEC some more and while I never solved my initial problem, I ultimately ran into too many inconsistencies. At one point I thought maybe I had it where it would more or less work. But then sometimes the TV...

Sony bluray players and HDMI-CEC “power-off TV” problem?

I’ve tested 3 different Sony bluray players on 3 different TVs (samsung, sony, LG). Turning “on” the Bluray players does turn ON the TV set, but turning “off” the bluray doesn’t turn OFF the TV. Any idea if this is a Sony bluray issue and would switching to a different brand blu-ray player...

In the future I want an 83” OLED TV. 86” would be fine, too. Just saying.

Oh yeah. A projector would be nice, too. My brother has been setting up a projector in his basement within the last year. I helped him finally ceiling mount the projector a month ago. 120” screen, I think. (Edit: 128”, my bad.). But his setup has been done somewhat on the cheap. Think...

In the future I want an 83” OLED TV. 86” would be fine, too. Just saying.

I also absolutely didn’t need to post this. Right now my “big” TV is a 70” LED that’s probably 5 years old. Or something like that. It seems so small and shitty nowadays. Too soon to justify an upgrade, but that doesn’t stop me from looking. Thought maybe a 77” OLED might be what...

Free TV Services, plus a Free TV

I prefer a more—how should I say?—“stimulating” television program, which is why I‘m glad Pluto TV has a dedicated 24/7 “Baywatch” channel. ;)

Free TV Services, plus a Free TV

I don’t remember that computer, but I do remember NetZero which I think was similar in that you got free (or maybe discounted?) Internet service in exchange for ads. I’m sure someone will try it. But I think TVs and soundbars are cheap enough that I‘d be super shocked if they were successful...

Free TV Services, plus a Free TV

About the not watching TV thing. I can totally believe you. I have Xfinity and was setting up my “favorites” in the app so that it would be easier to browse/channelsurf. And it occurred to me that there is hardly anything I care about even with all those channels. Maybe I’m just getting too...

    What Are You Listening To?

Isn’t Siri the kid that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made after they did it one day? (Or more likely, I’m guessing, one night?)

    What Are You Listening To?

You don’t say. So what I’m hearing is that there’s a half-ways decent chance James Hetfield invites Jay Osmond up on to the stage to sing “Crazy Horses“ next time Metallica plays SLC.

    What Are You Listening To?

Botch… I think you should start making “reaction” type videos. And for your first video might I suggest giving a disc called “Second Generation” a spin. It’s by a great group of young kids circa 1992 that go by the moniker “Osmond Boys”. After that you can give “I Love America” a spin. I...

Is anyone here familiar with the 80s band “Southern Pacific”?

I think of trains, myself. ;)

Is anyone here familiar with the 80s band “Southern Pacific”?

I have some of their music and one of their songs came up on shuffle and it just got me to wondering how well known or not these guys were. They were a country band (pop-country/rock-country). Saw them as an opening act for the Oak Ridge Boys when I was a kid. Band members included one or two...

“Believe It or Not” - One of the worst music videos

Indeed, everyone knows Ellen Degeneres eats a mostly vegan diet devoid of meat. . . . (I’ve also heard she doesn’t like dick.) . . (Sorry for the bad joke, everyone.) :grimacing:

“Believe It or Not” - One of the worst music videos

Bad? Nah… that’s f’n genius!!! And awesome. OK... It‘s bad. The two random chicks wearing too much makeup seal the deal. But which chicks are hotter? The Seagulls videos chicks or Joey Scarbury’s videos chicks?

“Believe It or Not” - One of the worst music videos

I remember liking this song/video as a kid. Probably recorded it onto a cassette by holding a tape recorder up to the TV. The M-TV, that is! Alas as good as some aspects of 80s culture were, it certainly had a few missteps. Mick Jagger helping to remake “Dancing In The Streets” probably...

“Believe It or Not” - One of the worst music videos

tl;dr - it’s the two ladies Joey Scarbury sings about life being awesome after falling in love. Rarely can you see his face, but he (or so who kind do looks like him) wears a cape and skin-tight super hero pajama suit as a nod to this song‘s use as the theme music to the Stephen J. Cannell...

Can’t believe that was over two years ago! Still as relevant today as it was then.

When did we switch to dots (I refuse)

This is very deja vu! I remember seeing someone else complain about this, I think. It’ll always be ’point’ to me. Am I just getting too old? I still ’double space’ after a period when I type. Even when texting. I also still put a comma before the word ‘and’ when listing something in a...
