Some Ebay ads for used speakers mention that the aluminum dome tweeter has a "minor" dimple or 2. I'm wondering how "minor" a dimple would have to be on a 1" tweeter to not affect the sound. Would any audible dimple effect be directional only on the damaged side? Would an SPL meter and test...
I don't think exhausting hot air into a hot attic is going to be as effective as tapping a return duct to pull hot air out of the cabinet - it would also eliminate the need for an exhaust fan. That assumes, of course, that the A/C is running most or all of the time.

I read years ago that the vcr was better due to the design & operation of the head. IIRC, It had to do with the way the tracks were recorded at an angle across the width of the tape. Also, I think the slower the tape speed, the better the recording quality.

The refresh rate discussion is overblown too. The implementation of it is more important than the speed, just like the outrageous claims about contrast ratio by some manufacturers.
I think it's best to avoid dimensions that are (or almost are) even multiples of each other. So maybe 8 x 11 x 19 would be a good choice. Having said that, you could alternatively build the "jog" plan but fill in the extra width with shelves/eqpt/storage/etc - in effect giving you 8x11x19...
re: the "jog" diagram - positioning the Right Surround speaker might be a problem if there's a jog in the right wall by the seating area. What type of surround speakers will you use? Monopole/dipole/? I'd suggest that you go with a rectangular shape instead.
