Pearl Harbor - 24 Hours After

    7. Fearing an attempt on Roosevelt's life, the Secret service used a bulletproof car confiscated from Al Capone to drive the president to give his speech before congress. The vehicle budget for the president at that time was insufficient to purchase a car like that. Excellent program.

Can a PJ be too bright?

Some random thoughts related to Randy's suggestion: Print out that picture of the area. Cut out a piece of paper in the approximate size the screen mounting box would have to be and position it on the picture. That would give you an idea of what the room would look like during the day when...

Can a PJ be too bright?

The suggestion I was trying to make was to base your decision on how far your seating position was from the screen. If you decided 60" was big enough you could go with the plasma on the wall. Otherwise, you could go with the screen. Just a consideration to think about. Good luck - looks like...

Can a PJ be too bright?

If the room is 15' wide, how far from the screen will you be sitting? 10' to 12' with a few feet behind you to the back wall? I'd use those distances as a guide to figuring the best screen size and go from there. :twocents-mytwocents:

"How to Listen" - Harman Kardon offers free ear training!!!

Re: "How to Listen" - Harman Kardon offers free ear training Interesting, but how effective would the training be if I have to run it on my laptop with limited freq. response & tiny speakers? It seems like a desktop with a good sound card & decent speakers would be required.

Helping My Boss with HT - Advice, suggestions, welcome

I think PQ has more to do with the overall design & implementation than a simple speed comparison. A higher speed doesn't guarantee a better picture. For instance, if a set with a higher speed can't be adjusted for accurate color and the other set can, what's your priority? Or if you can't...

Onkyo TX NR708 Video Pass Thru Question

I thought the pass thru function was just for no resolution conversion & didn't know it worked when the receiver was turned off, since I never use it that way. I stand corrected. Andy's probably right about the handshake.

Onkyo TX NR708 Video Pass Thru Question

If I understand what you're trying to do, I don't think the receiver is designed to pass signals thru when turned off. If that's correct, you might try routing the HDMI directly to the TV instead of going thru the receiver, and using optical to send audio to the receiver.
