Would 120Hz/240Hz processing cause this type of pictur flaw?

Re: Would 120Hz/240Hz processing cause this type of pictur f I believe it's called the "soap opera" effect - there's a lot of information on it but basically do what Flint said in the first thread and that should take care of it.

    New sub needed

Good stuff guys and thanks, T7 for the compliment on the room. I don't think I can go wrong owning 2 great subs! So it looks like the cylinder will be moving up to the family room and a new HSU might be on its way soon.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Watched "The Town" via DirectTV on demand. I think I went in with high expectations because I thought it was just okay. Some good action but the story lines were kind of weak (specifically the "romance" part of it).

    New sub needed

I have the wife's approval, believe it or not, to move the SVS cylinder to the family room and then buy something for the basement. Do you think moving from the PC Ultra to the VTF15H is an upgrade?

    New sub needed

Hi all, I have a family room that is probably 18X22(?) with a 2 story ceiling with wood floors. In that room, which is mostly used for sports, some movies, and kids shows, I had a Velodyne CT--80 that after 12 years bit the dust. It was highly ineffective in that room anyway but came with me...

    Shelby Lynne

Uh, wow. The flex was nice but the towel part was awesome. The bad part was that it just had, you know, too much towel. I remember a music award show where she had a duet with Sheryl Crow where they sang the Difficult Kind I think - it was excellent.

I gave it a chance because it was after Tosh. Have to say it wasn't funny.

    Audiovox is buying Klipsch? WTF?

Yeah, wow - that really sucks. I have always liked Klipsch speakers (my first real speaker purchase). Gotta wonder where this is going to take the company's products but hopefully Audiovox let's them mostly still be Klipsch

    The Cape

Wow! It looks like she lost a ton of weight. I prefer the rounder Summer Glau. Geez, hasn't Christina Hendricks taught those girls in Hollywood anything?

    Inception

Gonna watch it this evening via Direct TV on demand - very curious from all the reviews I've read.

    Benchmark DAC1 HDR

I will give you a hint - "divide by zero" :obscene-drinkingcheers: Good info, thanks. I may just use a cheap mini toslink adaptor from the Mac (Audioquest makes one for $2) to optical input on the pre/pro. Yeah, $450 seems a lot to spend on a converter (even though it's supposed to do...

Okay one more question - what does this do and is this more "snake oil"? I think I know the answer. http://www.halidedesign.com/bridge/ http://www.stereophile.com/content/halide-design-spdif-bridge-usb-spdif-converter

    STELLAR RECORDINGS

Just some of my favorites, not sure how high the rate on audio quality but I find myself comparing equipment listening to these:

    AKG K701

I've heard rave reviews on these but have not heard them personally. How does the sound compare vs. IEMs, specifically the Shure SE530s?

    Benchmark DAC1 HDR

I knew there was a reason I posted this question here - thanks to both of you. I'll send a commission check soon... I also had a brief discussion with a guy over at a computer audiophile forum, as I thought they might be a good resource, but that's a different experience over there. They have...

    Benchmark DAC1 HDR

Sooooo, what you're telling me is that I can spend less... Always a good idea! I kind of like the idea of having our old Macbook laptop in the system - easier to see menus and playlists from the listening position, can control iTunes from iPhone or iPad, and would have a direct connection to...

    Benchmark DAC1 HDR

Hi out there, Anyone have personal experience with this version or any other of the DAC1 units? Thinking about adding one to hook up to a laptop to listen to lossless audio through my main system. Plus, it can serve as a dedicated 2 channel preamp as well. It seems like an interesting unit...

Room acoustics, too esoteric for audiophiles

This reminds me of my treatments. I thought this stuff was hard until I read a series of posts you wrote over at S&V awhile back. Literally, just have someone move a mirror against the wall and when you can see the speaker, hang an acoustic panel. Repeat for other speaker. Done. It was a...

Suggest some speakers for me to look into...

+1 for Dynaudio. I have a pair of Contour S3.4s for my main speakers and a set of Audience 52SEs for surrounds. If you don't mind looking at used, I think you can get some great values. There was a pair of S3.4s on audiogon.com going for $2300, which is over your budget, I know. The 52SEs...

    The change

Buzzzzzzzzzzz. Got the set on Wednesday and I can hear a little buzz coming from the center of the set. It is audible when the sound is off or pretty low from about 8 feet away. Of course, now that I know to listen for it I can hear it. My wife didn't think it was a big deal but it bugs me...
