    What Are You Listening To?

Been a while since I've been to this thread. A lot going on. To much new music to keep up. Megadeth's 13 Evanescence's What you want Metallica's LULU Megadeth's 13 is a great album. Loving the pace of the album. Evanescence's What you want isn't that bad either. Record quality seems to...

    OMG, why??????

My PS3 started acting up, AGAIN!!!!!! I just sent it in a few months ago for repair (quit reading discs) and it just went out of its 90 warranty about a month ago. I don't have another $130 to get it fixed again. It just stops whatever it's doing and then shuts off. No reason what so ever. In...

Well, this was quicker than expected

With vinyl still around, I don't see it happening any time soon, and I mean years.

    My collection keeps growing.

    For $5 I couldn't say no. Another Clarion product. A very small 4 ch amp. Rated at 15w x 4 @ 4 ohms.

    Mumford & Sons

I signed up on the mumford and sons home page and there's a forum section and I was looking for updates on a new album. They're in the studio right now but the cool thing is they're realising a 3 disc set of their debut album. One of the discs is a DVD. Also to note, a live set and a new song...

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

So I took my son out to buy a CD today and he go some Linkin Park Live album, so I went to turn on the HU's DSP for that Live effect. When I ejected the CD I remembered that I need to turn on the SSR and viola, that hollow sound went away. I usually have it set to Hi, but Mid sounded best. I had...

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

I'm going to try one more thing. I know there's a reason behind it, not sure what it is, but after thinking about it for a bit it might've hit me. Setting the listening volume to -90dB, where as I did it at ~ -105dB. At full volume it sounds great, no more hollow sound. Only at low volumes does...

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

The EQ in the head unit I keep flat when adjusting the audio control EQ. I only use the EQ in the head unit for minor tweeks depending on the material being played. I decided to raise the10k Hz In the parametric EQ from -10dB to -6dB. That seemed to help.

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

Here's the EQ I have, the DQS. http://www.audiocontrol.com/t34/5247/Di ... ssors.html I know you're supposed to set the RTA at a reference level of around 90 dB. I set mine a bit higher then that, around 105 dB or so, at a level I typically listen to. So knowing that, I listened to Toto's...

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

The mid is a Silver flute that's made for home audio with a nice flat frequency response from 50hz up to 5000hz. The tweeter is by Clarion for car use. I'm trying to put all things aside, but I keep coming back to how easily our ears are trained and am wondering if what I've been listening to...

RTA'ed my truck stereo, now it sounds ...

I used the droid rta app on my HTC Aria. I know it's not the best but I figured it'd get me pointed in the right direction. Well, thread bass has never been more "up front" but it has a bit of a hollow sound to it. I did have to drop the upper frequencies quit a bit, like around 10k Hz at 2...

    Mumford & Sons

The show was Austin City Limits. As for who Mr. Mumford look like, after seeing the show I think he looks a lot like Brendan Fraser.

I'm not at home to look it up, but M&S and Flogging Molly (one of my other face) are going to be on a PBS show tomorrow. I have my DVR set to record.

    Tori Amos, Night of Hunters

Thank you. Her first 5 albums are all great. Boys for Pele has a lot of dynamic songs on it as well as Venus. Both of those albums are part of my "go to's" for SQ/system testing. Tales of a Librarian is her greatest hits album, but still lacks a few of her greatest songs. So I'd start with one...

    Tori Amos, Night of Hunters

1 of those artists that you like, but wonder where it all went wrong. Tori's last few albums have not been her best. This album is sadly very disappointing. I wonder how much longer I can continue to buy her albums. This album is a series of songs that make a play. record quality is still top...

    Mumford & Sons

Well, after starting a war on the unknown great albums thread, I'm here. I must say that for me being part Irish, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY love this album. It's what I listen to to go to sleep. This is easily one of my favorite albums ever and easily of the year. As noted, the record...

Favorite Albums You Think No One Else Knows About

Asshole Rose, wait sorry, they rhyme, but AXLE Rose, there that's better, despite his shenanigans and attitude, he was raised by some good people. My mom went to church with Axle's step dad. I say went because they moved to Florida about 2 years ago. I knew of Gn'R before Gn'R knew themselves...

Sorry, I'm on my phone and to edit a post is a pita. So I'm part Irish and I happen to love his voice. Hope that doesn't make me sound gay.
