    I Won a PS4!

So, I won a PS4. Any suggestions for Games, or how this thing works? I updated it and got my Sony and Netflix accounts active on it. Downloaded a game for the kids (it came with Destiny which I don't really want my 5, 7 and 9 year old playing) and messed with it a bit. I beleive it's...

Home Theatre is Great, Budgets Suck

Fancy Sub Matching Tool was a little tongue in cheek. Speakers was the primary question to match my sub. Rooms about 14x25....ish.

Home Theatre is Great, Budgets Suck

The fancy Sub Matching tool came up with the PC12-plus, the SB13-Ultra and the PB12-plus. I'd have no problem with any of those. Movies first, music second, don't care how it looks. Although, I do like pretty things.

Home Theatre is Great, Budgets Suck

I'd been thinking about exchange, duties, and definitely shipping since reading that these subs weigh in excess of 100lbs! So, SVS in Canada. Lets say the budget is around $1000, but I'm flexible ($1200 wouldn't hurt me) what sub is the one?

Home Theatre is Great, Budgets Suck

I thought that I'd hear subwoofer. Just wanted to be sure I guess. I see a review in Power Sound Audio, they're the new SVS/HSU value leader it seems. 1250 for a sealed sub. I guess that's the next thing, which sub?!?! :). How it looks doesn't matter. Wife actually said she doesn't care...

Home Theatre is Great, Budgets Suck

Back in the Spring I bought a new projo, which was long over due as I went 1.5sih years with no HT. Now that I've got going in this pursuit again I find I want to upgrade, well, everything. I have a Denon AVR 3806 receiver and Paradigm Studio series speakers, which I'm fine with. As I...

    Emotiva?

They're big jerks but they make nice amps? :). After reading SH write up on differential amps in super wary now about buying a differential amp. However, it seems quite a few of the amps made are differential amps. Also, I'm becoming so confused as my ignorance of amplifier technology...

I don't recall if it was from a link posted here something else I found online, but there was a vague reference to ATI manufacturing a lot of other "name brand" amplifiers.

Distance Calculation for Treatment of Back Wall

I see a DIY article on diffusers, but in the pics of your HT Flint, the diffusers are curved, I'm assuming, wood. I like the idea of the curved wood as I may be able to put some kind of graphic on them. Directly behind my ht seating is the kids play area. The absorber I have there has a piece...

    Emotiva?

The idea of two mono blocks is pretty enticing, for less than 2 G's! I guess you could get a 2 channel for your left and your right main and it wouldn't be that much more money with what are expected to be a higher quality and "better sounding" amp.

Distance Calculation for Treatment of Back Wall

Thanks Flint. I have one absorber there right now and I didn't know if I should be concerned about making more. I have some clap echo issues in the room so I thought that may be part of the problem. I think its the stairwell that is at the back of the room and parallels the HT area. Also, at...

Distance Calculation for Treatment of Back Wall

So, wise and wonderful purveyors of acoustic knowledge, what is the formula to determine if a wall is far enough away from my seating to leave it untreated? The wall is about 25 feet from my speakers and about 14 from the seats, so round trip from speakers to wall to seats is about 39 feet.

It didn't look like ATI made a Mono block. Thanks for the explanation of the harmonics. It kinda makes sense now. I've read some comments from guys with the amps that say they are a little bright. Makes sense now.

    Paradigm Atom v3 vs v6

Energy! That's the other speaker manufacturer I was thinking of. I have a sub and a pair of their bookshelf speakers.

    Paradigm Atom v3 vs v6

If I recall correctly (and as I get older I usually don't) PSB and Paradigm used to share the same testing facilities. I think that Paradigm has now built there own some years ago. There was 1 or 2 more speaker manufacturers that used those facilities too.

I had a little look around for ATI and found the same site that is linked in another thread in this forum. What's the scoop on ATI? The 1802 shows up for $1200 ish. Also, there's a review for the Emotiva XPA-1...

    Emotiva?

So, I'm not saying that I'll do this, BUT... If I were to buy one, probably the XPA 2, would there be any value in shipping it to a couple of "central" locations for member reviews? Then after its seen a couple locations it gets shipped to me. It's solid state power so I'd doubt that any of...

    Emotiva?

Thanks guys. I'm trying to find a website for ATI, I've found the old graphics card company. I'm losing my faith in google. :D Flint, the consistent quality is one of my concerns. I live in Canada and shipping to and from the US is costly. I'd like to set it and forget it. Also, SQ is a...

    Emotiva?

So, I've been "out of the game" for a while, and not around here much for... quite a while. New projo and some home made sound panels have reinvigorated my enthusiasm. I've even put RTA on my surface so I can mess around with the panels a bit. My thoughts have come to power for my speakers...
