It may be time for new speakers

Thanks, Flint - they are all on my audition list. Have always been intrigued by those Klipsch.

It may be time for new speakers

I'll never forget that day 12 years ago when I heard the C1s in Bethesda, MD. Dealer had them hooked up to Accuphase gear and it was just awesome. Loved that sound. If the PSAs are anywhere near that level for THAT price?? Sign me up.

So many fun choices! Heeman - good suggestion as I have never heard of them. Edit - arent they the old split off from SVS? This will probably take some time. Shopping for this stuff is fun so that's good.

It may be time for new speakers

Thanks - very helpful. I listen to a lot of rock (think Rush, Tool, PJ, etc) acoustic, prog (like Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Pineapple Thief). Not into classical. Some jazz occasionally. I need to try some of these out as I have never had the opportunity to hear or see them in person.

It may be time for new speakers

Thanks, Flint - it's a great idea and I now have space for these kind of speakers. This is not an approach I would have thought of which is why I asked you guys. These aren't power hungry speakers either, correct?

It may be time for new speakers

So I have had my Dynaudio S3.4 speakers since 2004(?). have been thinking of upgrading for some time but it was never the right time. Do I NEED to change? No, of course not. I just want to. And it's been a really long time since I've been out auditioning and want to focus my efforts. This would...

    Listener or Collector of Experiences?

I've been a long time part-time member of this forum and the one before it. I remember when it was a lot about the gear, new tech, etc. I am definitely interested in what new things can do to make my listening experience better (and appreciate those who bring it up when I visit - after all...

    Parasound Halo P5

I concur with the above: Do It. Parasound makes great gear that has always been reasonably priced.

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

I think the Winds are around $13k retail which is up there for the Contour range. I'd like to hear them as like you I've been impressed with their lineup. But you are right - some of their recommendations are nuts. Have you seen their "beaks" you put on top of the speaker?

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

Thank you. I'll check the speaker contacts but pretty sure I have this figured out based on all of things I did last night. Sound was dominant through the right speaker, changed the speaker wires at the back of the amp and the effect was dramatic - now left speaker was clearly stronger...

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

Welp, wife and I had a listening session last night. After commenting that she liked the sound of my brother's system (more open, richer were her comments), I had to agree - but something was wrong. And I figured out, through moving main speakers, wire switches, that my 13 year old amp is losing...

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

Good for you Botch! My thing was that the Totems are much cheaper than the Dyns. I think it was a combination of things including Flint's observations - sources, room, the experience at the time.

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

Good points and a good question. My wife came away impressed with his system as well but I agree. I remember when a dealer was trying to sell me an upgraded power cord and switched them. And of course we both "heard" an improvement. So easily fooled. Not to discount his stuff at all, it's great...

    Speaker fatigue? Stupid question...

I have had Dynaudio Contour S3.4 speakers since probably 2003. Loved them for a long time. However, I recently visited my brother who has a bunch of Naim gear connected to Totem Forests. Obviously different room, different sources, different pre and power, but I came away very impressed. So much...

    New headphones?

Okay, so quick update and review. Got the T1s on Saturday. Great condition, seller is a good guy and shipped them 2 day free of charge. The T1s? :music-rockout: - Never had open backed HPs before. Absolutely love them. - Great sound straight out of Mac. - might benefit from an amp...

    New headphones?

Seller says for 2 days in a row he hasn't been able to make it to the post office. Starting to get annoyed/worried.
