2014: NO platinum albums this year

"Platinum" indicates over 1 million albums sold by a single artist ( so the Frozen soundtrack didn't count). They credit the return to buying singles vs. albums, and the plethora of streaming services.
However, a "related link" on Facebook said that Thom Yorke's (singist for Radiohead) new solo album "sold" over a million copies in six days. Also, didn't U-2 just sell 500 millions albums to Apple? :eusa-whistle:

Has Taylor Swift's newest album come out? I know I'm planning to buy at least 3 or 4 copies just for myself. But, yeah, iin the meantime I've just been streaming her single on Spotify. And watchin' her shake that butt on YouTube. Shake it off, shake if off. Shake it like a polaroid picture. Hey, ya! Erm... wait, what?

Seriously, though, I've really slowed down my album purchases this past year especially. Partly it's because I'm saving money. And partly because there's nothing that I absolutely can't live without. I didn't care enough about Beck's neweest album to want to buy it. But I did give it a few spins on Spotify. Heck, I haven't even bought Super Session, which I still intend to do, but I've given it enough lisitens on Spotify. Spotify has definitely been a disincentive to buy specific albums for me lately. Maybe someday it'll spur me to more purchases, but it hasn't been that way.

That said... I still probably bought more albums this past year than a lot of folks these days.
