3rd generation Panasonic 3D Glasses

Well after being on backorder for two months, these finally came today. http://www.jr.com/panasonic/pe/PAN_TYEW3D3LU/ Pansonics 3rd generation 3D glasses came today, charging them up right now. Rented the Green Hornet to try them out tonight, they are supposed to be lighter in weight (27grams) and tinting (10%). The instruction manuel said they might not be compatible with my fluorescent back light, I hope that's not the case.

Will give a report when done watching the movie tonight or tomorrow, these glasses are cheaper at Amazon. :ugeek: :geek:

Well the glasses worked very well, they felt comfortable, take 30 min for a full charge (25hr) but are supposed to take 2 min to watch a three hour movie. You do have to sit more upright with them on or let them sit low on your nose to have the right line of sight. Some of the 3D effects look more cool and real than others.

Next would be to upgrade my Directv HDDVR to a 3D capable box, when I watching some of the sports channels at Best Buy in 3D. I thought it looked pretty impressive, not that I want to do the majority of my viewing with glasses on. :handgestures-thumbup:

All the 3D content I've watched on my set to this point has been on my Directv HDdvr.

Pretty cool stuff on there.

I dont have a 3D display but I'm wondering if I should start buying the 3D edition of blu-ray titles.

If you enjoy the format I would. In fact, I had started before getting my VT30. They're usually on sale on the day of release and that is usually the best time to buy unless you wait months for the price to drop on amazon...I'm up to ~25-30 3D titles. I also avoid live action for the most part unless it was shot in 3D from the outset.

I may start doing the same. Movie reviews at Blu-Ray.com reviews now include a section for the quality of the 3D in addition to video and audio.

Here is a review http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4375/p ... index.html

Two interesting facts these glasses have a down converting feature so they can be used in 2D mode. I guess this is in case if someone has problems with headaches or motion sickness, the rest can still watch in 3D. With the coming of a universal standard between 3D glasses the reviewer thought these might be the last backward compatible version that Panasonic will come out with.

I don't have a 3D TV, player, etc. in my rig, but I've thought about getting 3D Blurays since a lot of them also have the 2D Bluray and DVD versions. This way, if I do decide to go to 3D, I'm set with a few titles to enjoy.
