8 ohm vs. 6ohm

I have a basic understanding of Ohms' law, but still would like a little clarification.

my Elac B6's are 6 ohms and 85 dbs
my Klipsch RB-61's are 8 ohms and 95 dbs

Does the lower resistance of the Elacs 'make up' for the sensitivity difference? or would I still need more power to drive the Elacs like the Klipschs?

My Marantz NR 1403 http://www.us.marantz.com/us/products/pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=AVReceivers&ProductId=NR1403

Doesn't even seem to drive my Klipschs like my older entry level Harmon Kardon. Although I don't think I have set up the Marantz correctly.

I know I am rambling....sorry

Never be sorry for asking.

No, the impedance of your speakers doesn't matter when it comes to sensitivity when using transistor amplifiers.

Your Klipsch speakers are going to be 10dB SPL louder than your Elac speakers at a given voltage. Since Ohms Law states that voltage stays steady while current rises if the impedance is lowered, then the voltage at a given volume setting will remain the same between the two speakers even though the power output will go up due to the lower impedance. So, your peak output level with that receiver will be 10dB lower with the Elac speakers.

That doesn't mean you don't have enough power. If your receiver can put out 100W, that is still at least 105dB per Elac speaker, which is nothing to sneeze at.
