These sat in my shed for the last 10 to 15 years. I finally got around to taking them apart, refinishing the cabinets and adding horn tweeters. Along side are the JBL L100 and JBL C50 Olympus. They are not that red. Something about the lighting and my phone did that.

My dad had a pair of those in his shop until he moved to Austin in 2000. I never really asked about them because they looked to be in terrible shape.

Here is what is inside the cabinets: Altec 420Y Biflex woofer and Klipsch K77 tweeter. The Altex is original. I added the Klipsch tweeter to extend the frequency range and liven up the sound.

Looks like Altec was up to their usual cheesiness when it comes to cutting costs; they almost never placed absorbent padding on surfaces they didn't think would matter.

Yeppers. JBL was doing the same back in the day. If one side was done the other wasn't. If the bottom was done, the top wasn't. It easy to fix.
