Amp or adaptor?

Bats post reminded me I had my AKG 701's upstairs. I dug them out and plugged them in my Onkyo TXSR805. The Sound seemed to favor the right side. I removed the 3.5mm Stereo Jack To 1/4" Stereo Plug Adapter and tried them on my mini Onkyo stereo in my room and much better.

The adapter is the one that is supplied with the cans from AKG, the type that screws on. I had another laying around and the same thing, but it was a cheap one that probably didn't get connected as much as it should. Regardless, same result.

I just tried on my Zune and it was fine too.

Can't imagine the adapter supplied would be the issue? 805 the issue?

Yeah, sounds like the jack on the 805 is wonky...

Bummer, I think it may be the 1st time I've used it. I used to use the Squeezebox when it was in the same rack as my main system. Luckily my pc housing my collection is in my main system now, so if lounging in the LR is important I can use it.

Buy some contact cleaner at RadioShack, squirt it into the female jack, then insert the male plug and move it back and forth several times. Sounds like the plot to a porno movie, but it works.
