Tonight was the third time in recent days I've heard a song on the Sirius/XM "Heart & Soul" station that made me think it was one of Adele's new songs. The voice was identical to Adele's. Big. Bold. Confident. The singing though, was different. A different style. More confidence? Definitely more soul. Frankly, I just thought Adele had been given some coaching (not that she needs it). But seriously, imagine if Adele told someone "I want to sing even better than I do. Help me achieve that." What would you get? You'd get Andra Day. Her CD (Cheers to the Fall) arrives here Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

If you're an Adele fan, you owe it to yourself to check out Andra. Specifically her song "Rise Up".

Andra Day performed on The Late Show on Wednesday.....I agree, she is really good. Specifically, she sang Rise Up. In this live performance, she sang in a higher vocal range than Adele typically does, but I totally get the comparison. Good call! :eusa-clap:
 
Interesting.

My copy of her disc arrived Wednesday night. Yesterday at work I gave it a first-listen and I was 3 tracks into it when I realized I hadn't heard a shred of Adele. All I was hearing was Amy Winehouse. It seems she sounds most like Adele when singing in her lower range but more like Amy when in her higher range. And now that I've heard the entire album, there's way more Amy than Adele.

Either way, Andra is fantastic.
