Audio Issues?

There are many very reputable sellers on AudiogoN where a used pre/pro can be acquired for a decent price.

I had a rather lengthy conversation with Nancy from Outlaw.

It seems like the 975 does everything that I need for a product like this.

There is a 3 yr warranty and a 30 day trial period.

So this may be a good option.
--------------------

Last night I could not get the Onkyo to pass sound by multiple cycling. So I decided to let it sit for about 15 mins in the on position. Wouldn't you know........it began to working fine????

I believe that this is a hardware issue and not a Firmware/software issue, however I did speak with Onkyo this AM and they recommend installing the latest firmware update and doing a factory reset. I will try this over the weekend. He did say that If this did not work to call the Onkyo Parts Dept and they will most likely authorize a free repair.........

Stay tuned.................

Outlaw 975 on order, should have it mid-next week.

Thanks Jamhead for the recommendation!

I just now got a chance to read this thread. You did the right thing IMHO by getting the pre/pro. When I first built my room I couldn't afford a pre/pro at the time, especially one w/ HDMI etc. since that was still fairly new. So, I got a good deal on an open box Yamaha RX-2400 from a local store and used it as a pre/pro for several months. That unit was a REALLY nice unit and did a great job.

However, the day the pre/pro went into service was a day I'll always remember. There weren't veils lifted etc., but the difference was there. It was a sum of smaller details (better/more distinct imaging was the key I remember) that resulted in a noticeable difference. My line on seperates has always been that it won't get you HUGE gains but the particular gains you get can only be achieved by getting seperates.

Awesome. Let us know what you think of it. From everything I've read, it seems like it's a solid low cost preamp...with the "extras" removed for the lower cost. It's definitely one I'd consider if I were in the market.

So, back at the beginning of October Onkyo authorized a one time warranty repair of my TX-NR708. The unit was received by ABM Electronics in Houston on 10/4/13. I checked the status today and they indicated that it shipped out yesterday 10/11/13. I tracked the unit on UPS an it will be delivered today. I will set this AVR up in the Den with my Studio 20's, Parasound; HCA-1000 Amp and SVS PB 12NSD Sub.

The Outlaw 975 is working fine in the HT.

Figured that I would give an update..........
