AIX RECORDS AND PARTNERS PRESENT "IS IT JOHN GORKA OR IS IT HD-AUDIO?" AT AXPONA 2014

A very special exhibit will be part of AXPONA 2014. German Physiks of Germany has committed to display their most ambitious system ever. The system will consist of the Emperor Loudspeaker weighing in at over 1000 lbs per speaker and costing nearly $400,000.00 US dollars. Also with this incredible system they will show three additional Borderland speakers and complete the setup with two custom built 18 inch subwoofers. The total cost of the speaker system alone will exceed $500,000.00. Along with the German Physiks speakers, Vitus Audio from Denmark will present seven discreet amplifiers to deliver the required high quality power to this magnificent system. Also supporting this very ambitious effort is Dolby, Oppo, JVC Professional and DH Labs. The Exhibit itself will be hosted and presented by Mark Waldrep PhD, of AIX Records. The system will exclusively use for demonstration Dr. Waldrep's incredible software that has been received with many accolades over the years and most recently given marks such as recording of the month from Stereophile magazine and other mentions establishing his work as the absolute reference for 5.1 high resolution audio.

Mark Waldrep, Ph.D., the founder of AIX Records announces the first "Is It Live Or Is It HD-Audio?" shoot out between "new folk" musician John Gorka and the world's finest surround music playback system. The event will be held on the opening day, Friday April 25, of the AXPONA 2014 audio show in Chicago from 2:30 - 4:00 pm in the Madison Ballroom of the Westin O'Hare Hotel. Check out John's DVD promo video at: AIX Records John Gorka Trailer

"We've put together one of the most expensive and best sounding high-end audio systems ever demonstrated at an audio trade event with our special partners German Physiks, Vitus Audio, Dolby Laboratories, Bryston, Oppo Digital, JVC Professional Products and DH Labs," said Dr. Waldrep. "Attendees will be able to enjoy songs from my favorite singer songwriter, John Gorka, performed acoustically in the Madison Ballroom and then experience our AIX Records Real HD-Audio recording of John and his band through German Physik's flagship Emperor speakers powered by Danish high-end maker Vitus Audio in an unprecedented fully immersive 5.1 surround configuration."

Cool. I've been following Waldrep's email discussions of hd audio, and he's mentioned the Gorka recording, and the upcoming oppo headphones, and also has gone on at length (excessive length) about PONO and Neil Young. Would be interesting to see a personal presentation on this stuff.

   Me too; I can take his sometimes wearisome whining about certain things only because I get his daily blogplops at work, and they're always more interesting than my "job".
Would really like to hear the "Is it live or is it memorex... er, Gorka" demo!

After your comments Pauly, I did a search for Waldrep and Oppo. I was not even aware he was a fan of those headphones, thanks.

"I have to admit that I don’t have that much experience with phones. I did listen to the Beats pair that I gave my son a couple of years ago (which were terrible), spent some time with a high-end Grado pair (which were incredible) and know the sound of my run of the mill Sony MDRs. The Oppo headphones are fantastic and I could be convinced to move towards a personal listening experience."

"Using my Headphones[xi] surround music mixes, I could create an “out-of-the-head” portable listening experience. SO stand by…sometime in the first half of the year the Oppo headphones will be available. I’m pretty confident the quality minded headphone fans will fall in love with these phones."
