BLUES Music

Johnny Winter - Roots. Been listening to this one lately, and while I'm not a huge Winter fan, it's pretty good stuff all around, a nice mix with guest artists on each track. However, there's one song, Last Night (track 5) with John Popper on harmonica. I'd not heard Popper before, but I'm just astounded at what he can do, I didn't know it was even possible to do stuff like that with a harmonica. It's amazing, technically, but also musically very interesting. I'm gonna get some Blues Traveler albums now...

http://www.musicradar.com/us/news/guitars/the-25-best-blues-guitarists-of-all-time-264246

I'm familiar with the music of most of those on this list, others by name only.
I found it interesting and informative.

All subjective, of course, but the descriptions and grouping seemed natural and reasonable for me.

Stevie Ray Vaughan has always been my personal favorite, wherever others my rate him.
I think Joe Bonamassa has picked up where he left off . . . .
'

Bottom line .... Blues has a great history, and a great future!

I am with you as for as the list goes my only problem is several on the list really are only part time bluesmen.

Thanks, that was interesting. Most of them I've at least heard of, though I'm not that much of a blues historian. I have recordings of maybe a third of them.

Topper, I want to thank you - at least I think it was you - for recommending this dvd documentary. Watched it tonight, fascinated. Really very interesting stuff, a must see for anyone interested in the real roots of American blues.
