I'll take that bet every day and twice on Sundays. I'm always getting my flu vaccine- ever since college, when I was one of the few who bothered. Well, the flu (the real flu, mind you) tore through the dorms and I was one of the few who didn't get sick. I've been a believer ever since. At worst it's a nominal cost (but now my insurance covers it with no copay) and a few minutes to get it done. Beyond that it's all payoff.
My Mom got a flu shot this year. For the first time in her life. And she's only gotten the flu once before (as did I and my sister, we all threw up in covered coffee cans on the 2-hour trip from Minnesota to Sioux Falls; Dad (driver) didn't have it). Her doctor ordered it; I'm glad I have her genes.
I had to get an annual flu shot most of my adult life (Air Force orders) but haven't had the flu since that long drive (I think I was in my teens). I continue to get one, mostly because its free and it gets me away from my job for an hour or so. Rah.
