Dream Theater - The Astonishing

heeman

PRETTY HAPPY.........
Famous
Last night Barb and I went to the show at the Riverside Theater in MKE. We had a bite to eat at an Irish Pub around the corner. Next to us was a group of guys with Dream Theater Tee Shirts. They saw this show about 6 months ago in Minneapolis. They said the show is great!!

So, if you are a fan or somewhat of a fan of the band, this one is a little unique, however interesting. But you need to keep an open mind.

They did play this album in it's entirety, with 1, 20 minute break.

We sat in the front row of the Balcony approx 35' from the stage. Cell phones and electronic devices were demanded to be turned off and no pictures were allowed in the Theater. I did happen to snap a few at the end of the show. I will post them later.

The Stage presentation was superb. The sound system average. There was parts of the show where it was obvious other instruments and sounds were piped in.

As mentioned in this wiki review, the drums and the bass lacked in the typical Dream Theater fashion.

I would give the concert an 8 out of 10.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I love Images and Words but haven't really gotten into much more of their catalog.

I loved the band until Portnoy left. Without him the music lacks soul / life.
