This box doesn't have the mic array that the stand-alone Echo so you HAVE to use the mic on the remote.

You can do a search by speaking into the remote control for the Roku 4, I've used it several times, works great. After doing so a list of all the apps that offer the movie. Haven't tried searching an actor yet....I'll try Clint Eastwood tonight and see what happens. I don't subscribe to Hulu etc, just Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, SlingTV (not sure if I want to keep it but sure enjoyed WatchESPN during Bowl games though)
