... have you heard of a band called Mingo Fishtrap? I hadn't, but a musical buddy of mine in Missouri posted this video:

...and it cooks! I went to Amazon and it appears they have an out-of-print concert, and a CD, out, but that's it. Gotta do some more digging tomorrow... :music-listening:

We have a radio talk show host here who used to talk about "Tower of Power" quite a lot. I've heard their "Bump City" album and it's pretty good, but that's about all I know. Though, in general, I do like some of the brassy, funky jamming stuff from the 1970s---EWF, even early Chicago.

Looks like Mingo Fishtrap might be pretty good, too. Though, that particular singer of theirs ain't nearly as soulful as a "Terry Kath". But then again, how many people are?

True dat. My first bar band was actually a Chicago knockoff (I played trombone in those days), great fun!

What part of Missouri? My younger brother lives in St. Louis. If these guys are based in Missouri, I wouldn't be surprised if he's heard of them or may even know them somehow.

Thanks Rope! There was one copy of their DVD on Amazon yesterday, today I went to buy it and someone already snatched it up. Glad to see they're still available on their website. :handgestures-thumbup:

Just checked out their website, and there was a song playing called "Without Question". I could be totally mistaken, but... To me that track seemed less-so funky and a little moreso "bluesy" than the above YouTube clip. Then toward the end of the song it started sounding like Motown???

Just got this one in the mail today. Kaz, you're right, they're not quite as funky as ToP but a bit more bluesy and rock-oriented. Glad I got this regardless, and I've also ordered their DVD; I won't pay the exorbitant price for another of their out-of-print releases, however.
