Woo-hoo! Just got tickets to go see Grace Potter here in Baltimore in a few weeks (Feb 4). It's a small club venue, the same place we saw Neko Case last summer. Should be fun!

Interesting writeup on the making of their latest album:

Man.......that should be a great show! Are you sure that Joe B. is okay with you digging other artists???

:laughing-rolling:

I'll ask her to cover some of Joe's songs, that should appease everyone.

And then, On Feb 8th she comes to Providence, RI.

To do an intimate one on one with Bob R....... :eusa-whistle:

er, well ..

Grace and the Band come to Lupos Heartbreak Hotel & I got a ticket. :banana-rock:

Just got back, too jazzed to go to sleep yet. Grace was awesome! Her band was awesome. Great musicians and great performers. The highlight of the show for me was Grace doing a solo blues slide guitar version of Nothing but the Water on her flying V - she just nailed it. That's probably my favorite song of hers anyway, and I'm so glad I got to hear it, but totally different from the album version. They also did some interesting almost 70's psychedelic extended improvisational jams that were very interesting; they weren't just playing tracks off their albums as-is. I was right up front on stage right, good view, <15' from Grace when she was playing the keyboard. There were a few "I wish I had my camera" moments...

All in all, a great time, and well worth the very reasonable $35/ticket price. If any of you get a chance to see this band, don't miss it.

Sounds like they put on a great show.

My Daughter and I will see her on Friday.

Woot!

:music-rockout:

Paul,

Great to hear that you had a blast!!

Sounds like no camera's were allowed????

:music-rockout: :music-rockout:

No, "regular" folks are not allowed real cameras in this venue (though of course everyone has cell phones). I did chat with a photographer (with a nice fast lens on a D700) before the show, but she had special permission through some publication house she was working for.

On the good side, you were able to watch/enjoy the show and not be distracted by trying to pull off the great shot!!

Front Row........WOW, I am jealous!! :music-rockout: :music-rockout:

This was a small-ish club, maybe ~500-600 people total, and it was packed in pretty tight. No seating, just general admission and standing. We just occupied a spot up front a half an hour or so before the show started, and stayed there the whole time. It was mostly a good view, except we couldn't see the drummer much at all. Sound was pretty decent though. And it was a long show - ~45 min by the opening band (Houndmouth), and Grace and the Nocturnals played for pretty close to two hours.

That's awesome, Bob! You'll enjoy it I'm sure. Let us know how it goes.

Due to Emo the Blizzard. The show was postphoned ........

......to tonight!

It's on!!! :banana-rock: :banana-dance: :banana-rock: :banana-dance:

What powerfull performance this group puts on. One minute they are guitars blazing and the next soft as a rose petal.

They did a very good cover of Neil Young's "CInnamon Girl". This lead into a 25 min version of "Water". The first 10 minutes were Grace solo on the guitar. I thought I was about to hear her break out "Oh Well" from Peter Greene's Fleetwood Mac days.

This is a full fledged talented band with two lead guitars, bass, drums, and Grace playing just about everything on the stage. the Nocturnals are a very tight band all the way around.

The last song was "The Lion, The Beast, The Beat". All five band members were wailing on one set of drums.

My daughter and I loved it. :text-bravo:

Excellent! Yeah they did that at our show too, standing around the drums with mallets etc. and "helping" during the Lion the Beast the Beat; Flint woulda had a heart attack. Did she use the flying V for her solo part of Nothing but the Water?

Grace was the guest at "Live at Darryl's House" tonight on Palladia. Damn she's a cutie! Wonderful voice, and I'd love to have her assisting me in the kitchen, per the show... :banana-dance: :eusa-whistle:

Well, I finally watched this one! Fabulous! A different side to her than her other concert/shows that I have seen her do. I didn't know that her boy friend was the drummer in the band and that she has 6 albums released. Originally from Vermont.

Her description of learning to play the Piano as a neat kinda game; Push these keys (buttons) and get this sound and push a bunch of these at the same time and get this sound.........WOW!

Very unique and upbeat personality and like Botch said "I'd love to have her assisting me in the kitchen!!!

Catch this show if you can. Like I said before. " Live at Darryl's House is and awesome Show!"
