I saw one of those previews on the tube the other night, I'm anxious to see it too.

Yet, Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey is STILL the only space movie that respected the fact that sound doesn't travel in space. :angry-tappingfoot:

Actually, according to the director, the sounds were added to the trailers by the studio. The movie will be silent, because, as you mentioned, sound doesn't travel in space. Reading about this movie makes me want to see it more.

The movie critic on CBS Sunday Morning said this was formulaic, cornball, and absolutely fantastic and worth seeing, especially in 3D. I've yet to see a whole 3D movie, this may have to be the one.

And, another trailer:

The wife and I saw it in IMAX 3D this morning and agree 100% with that movie critic.

^^ Ha! no. Not bad...I'll let some others see it before really voicing my overall feelings for the film.

Saw it tonight.

Had to remember to leave my implausibility meter at the door.

Greatly entertaining. Compact. Terrific performance by Sandra Bullock.

First 3D movie that I've seen where 3D is a requirement to pull the movie off - rather than being nothing but a special effects tool with no connection to plot or characters. And it is pulled off masterfully.

This is one movie that will almost assuredly translate badly from big to small screen (ie. in almost everyone's HT). Unless your home screen fills your field of view, and you have 3D capability, you will be missing out. So get out to see it before it gets completely pushed aside by Thor and the other just-released.

id love to see this too, but im anxious that this might end up being like The american or solaris, which in my personal taste, didnt fit well with me. pacing was a bit off for me. im sure there are others who are fans of these two, but i love collateral, which shows our differences in taste varies significantly.

thanks for not spoiling it for those who havent seen it yet.

great movie, i didnt want to spoil anything early on, but i appreciated the movie's dynamics. VERY well done.

i ended up with a knot in my stomach from start to finish. There were a bit of lull moments, but i feel they were necessary too. cant 'build up' to a scene if all you do is keep the action, blowing up stuff etc to a mediocre ending or climatic scene.
