How much speed do you need?

Talking to my parents about getting a wifi enabled Bluray player so they can use pandora, netflix and maybe vudu.

Their DL speed is 2.42 and their UL speed is .61.

Is it even worth the try?

I think that would be alright for music. I'm pretty sure that's what my speeds are now (AT&T) and Netflix was alright at those speeds. If they can upgrade to faster package, that would be preferable.

I think mine's topped out unless I go with Uverse (not available in my neighborhood)

Picture quality will suffer, if they're even watchable at that bandwidth.

As was stated already music should be okay at that speed. Video... not so much. I tried Netflix on a 6Mbps connection and would not recommend anything slower than that.
