I wanted to get a pair of speakers for the master bedroom. At first, I was looking at great little speakers from Fluance and Audio Engine in the $300-500 price range. Then I realized something. These speakers will never be used for "serious" listening. They will play background music while we fold laundry or get dressed. They will play audio books while we wind down for the evening. We don't need great speakers in there. We need acceptable speakers. I already had a pair of Edifier bookshelf speakers in my bathroom that sound decent, so I bought a second set or Edifier R1280DBs for $126.
These are definitely not audiophile speakers, but they do sound reasonably good and play loud enough for the application. They are well made and look nice. They have Bluetooth, 2 sets of analog inputs and an optical input. They come with a nice little remote control too. They are not exciting, but they offer good value and are fine for what I bought them for. Sometimes good enough is good enough and realizing this saved me a couple hundred bucks.
