John Wick 2

Renaissance man
Movie night with my sweetie. Some John Wick 2 on the projection screen. Plenty of action and weapon porn.

I enjoyed it even more than the first.

I wasn't really expecting this to turn into an ongoing series of movies, but now that it is, bring on Wick 3!

I love how they've created / crafted a surreal "universe" for these movies, and the wildly compelling characters that inhabit it. (The deskman at the Continental Hotel for example. The switchboard operators taking "orders.") Similar (in principle) to the Marvel Universe or the Underworld Universe. Once you "get" that, it's easy to suspend all disbelief and just enjoy the show.

Yes Jeff, I love the hitman world. It really makes you think about people you just see that seem to be ignored by many or live in the shadows. I also love the realist use of weapons, stance, reloading and mixed martial arts. He put in some serious training time for a lot of disciplines.

on a sidenote, they're also going to produce, yep, a tv series with keanu pre-wick 1.

they intend to do it during and/or the continental days.

I keep hearing about these John Wick movies being so good almost to the point I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't seen either yet. A double-feature night is in order soon.

I loved both but enjoyed the first one better. I guess the first because it was all new to you and I figure if somebody ever did that to my dog I'd prolly act the same way. The second was just pure violence which was nice it just seemed the first John Wick had a purpose the second was just John being trapped which I felt wouldn't happen to John being as disciplined as he was. The third hopefully will be better.

This is one of those movies I hadn't watched before so I could watch it for the first time again...

I did wind up watching both Wick movies back-to-back about 1.5 months ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one, I disliked the second movie almost as much as I liked the first.

Maybe I am getting old, but the fight scenes in Wick 2 just got boring after a 10 minute ultra-violent hand to hand fight where bones should have been broken and joints dislocated. I remember the fights in the early Bourne movies being like that, but they seemed to work - maybe because it was a new movie making technique. I also hated the casting of Lawrence Fishburne. That should have been an obvious no-go for the studio and director.

I would also add, as much as I enjoyed the first, I don’t see myself watching it often.

I liked the first one and I am definitely looking forward to watching the second. It was definitely a home alone and watch a guy flick with the volume turned way up kind of thing for me though.

likewise. for some reason, i watched equalizer more often then not.
