Me playing piano in church

Played in church yesterday, sorry for the not so great SQ/PQ but it's a small camera way up in the balcony... Plus people were talking during the prelude/postlude. But this gives you the idea.

First, the prelude (before church service started) - by Chopin, D-flat major prelude. Not technically difficult, but more of a challenge to keep the musical line going during a slow piece.

This was the postlude... (after service) Not your usual church music but I thought I'd shake things up a bit. :eusa-whistle:

And the offertory. The most technically challenging of these three, by far. Only thing is, the audio recorder our church uses apparently has an automatic volume leveling "feature" - which makes it sound like I played this entirely at a single dynamic level. Ugh.

Ha! No, I don't have anywhere near the repertory for that. I do this only once every few years... But I do practice on this piano once a week, as it's a great piano (Steinway B) and acoustic space.

Flight of the Bumblebee, I love it!! :laughing-rolling: :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap:
:text-bravo:

Outstanding Paul. I'm impressed. Would love to have you come down here and play in our 130 yr old German Baptist Church. Its a real small country church.

Where's the flash, flair and panache? I was expecting you, at some point, to stand up, kick the stool backwards and lay down a blistering solo while bouncing up and down and doing that chicken clucking thing that your hero and idol does.

What gives man?

They haven't brought the offering plate to him yet. They just walked past him.

i was thinking he was going to show up in a fedora and a mafia suit. true gangsta style. (of course, removing the fedora is obligatory in church but i dunno how'd he play that... :happy-smileygiantred: ))

un sospiro was my favorite, well done my friend!

I only do that when I play the electric piano. :naughty:

Paul, I enjoyed all three videos. The Listz piece I enjoyed the most. You play extremely well. Your passion for classical music comes through in your motions. :eusa-clap: ;) :eusa-clap:

From church this past Sunday (1/1/17) - my very favorite of the Chopin preludes.

Oh wow! Just wow!

Where do I begin?

Your shirt - which is neither flannel nor plaid - is tucked in. And you're wearing a belt. I give you two enthusiastic thumbs up.:thumbsup:

Oh, and the performance ain't bad either (though I think you should procure a page-turner next time).

Eat your heart out, Liberace.
