I recently acquired a big batch of used CDs and in that batch was a still-in-the-wrapper copy of George Benson & Al Jarreau's givin' it up. It was done in a format that I'd never heard of previously - or did and promptly forgot about it: Monster Audio Superdisc. I just played it and I have to say that the sound quality is fantastic - both the mix and quality itself.
The format dates back to 2006 when it was launched - and then seemingly vanished overnight with not many titles ever having been issued.
Most titles contain multiple mixes in various formats. For example the Benson title contains hi-def stereo on a separate disc, two DD and DTS 5.1 mixes each ("audience" and "stage") as well as headphone mixes and others.
I tried to find copies of other titles and while they are available through the likes of Amazon and eBay etc., it turns out that Monster's own site was offering six discs (one is the same title in two different formats) - all at fantastic discounts. I just ordered five of them.
Just curious as to whether any Forum members ever bought any of the Monster discs and if so what you thought of them.
