My iPod died

My wife had bought me a new iPod nano 5th generation for Christmas in 2019. Since my old one was working I left the new one in the box.
My old one died a couple of days ago, so out with the new! It doesn’t work. The battery is okay so it is either a hardware or software issue, I have done all of the possible resets, talked to Apple, took it to Best Buy’s. Since it was a 2009 product Apple says the warranty has expired, lol. But, the crazy thing is I can’t find anyone that can or will fix it. Trying one more place today.

If I could get my pc to recognize it, I would try a restore. Any suggestions?

That sucks.

Since you’ve tried resets already, I’m guessing it ain’t as simple as the lock switch being on?

No, that was the first thing I checked. I have it at a shop who said they would look at it and let me know. I don't have a lot of hope.
