I remember when I upgraded from a secrecy super cube to a "real" sub. I think my exact statement was that I bought a new sub but got new speakers (I didnt but the sub upgrade made them sound better).

Contests on the purchase.
towen, your contesting my purchase?? i promise,I will try to use caps.
I think it's another "damnyouautocorrect.com" moment... :teasing-tease: T7, get off the cel phone will ya...or ipad

Yeah... Sorry. I meant "congrats".

I have a love/hate relationship with the iPad's autocorrect.

My good friend has become an iPhone / iPad addict and admits to almost never turning on his PC anymore. He also admits that he doesn't participate in his beloved motorcycle racing forum much anymore because it is so difficult to type new posts and he admits to not replying to emails or texts much either for the same reason. He says he has shifted from being a contributor to being a consumer on his forums and that he just calls people if he wants to respond to a text or email and his friends and family are irritated at him for his lack of interaction. He actually calls himself a lazy taker of information having shunned most sharing due to his love for his new toys.

A little off-topic but I find that I contribute more because of the convenience of having the iPad at hand when I'm not at the computer or feel like toting the laptop. Right now for instance. I only use a phone when I don't have access to a bigger device but, like your friend, I almost never contribute when using those.

YEAH DAMMIT, if not for the stinking iPad , I would easily have double my post total and that one late night I had, I would have easily had 200 posts instead of ~75. I'm throwing that #@*%ing thing in the garbage as soon as I get up. Damn iPad... :eusa-whistle:

I am always way behind the curve on new tech and never thought i would use a computor much (i lurked on our old site a couple years before posting). Once i got a laptop i listen to music while reading and posting nightly. It actually increased my music listening greatly and makes wacthing boring tv with the wife tolerable.

I have yet to use a "portable" device to access the forum (read or write). :D Of course, laptops are no longer considered portable, sigh.

EXACTLY!

Even if Flint has a problem with our lack of focus and thusly our contribution to a lack of American greatness.

According to Mark Zuckerburg the iPad isn't portable either.

But i have to say in flints defense, I know what he means. When I find a song or cd/dvd I like a lot I purposley keep it seperate from my casual listening and only listen/watch when i am(old slang) "into it" Otherwise being distracted in a casual sense has actually increased my time/enjoyment of music/ music videos

Hmm I use my iTouch to post and just proof read all my posts before I hit post. Then after it posts I reread it again for grammer (old habit from when I wrote Rock reviews back at the college newspaper) works for me......most of the time. :eusa-whistle:

Cool, I'd love to have had a job like that! :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:

During the late 80's and early 90's I got to meet alot of very cool rock groups and even got to party with a couple of them. It was a very piss poor paying job but getting to choose my photographer (normally some buddy or chick I wanted to impress) and get better than front row and back stage passes was always fun.

Some of the more memorable groups I've met.

Pink Floyd sans Roger Waters - very reserved group of guys, not much for conversation.
Yes - Got to share some drinks with those guys
Oingo Boingo - Danny Elfman is just as weird as you would think he is.
Thompson Twins - not that impressed
Van Halen with Sammy Hagar, Great group to hang with and yes Sammy gave me a shot of his private blue agave tequila reserve
Billy Joel - loved to joke about banging Christie Brinkley
KISS (when they didnt wear make-up) - pretty fun group of guys
Joe Satriani - The guy is a guitar rock god and friendly as hell
Concrete Blond - Bizarre interview
No Doubt - Met Gwen Stefani when she was 17 had long brown hair and was the back up singer in the group, her older brother (Eric) introduced her to the band where he was one of the singers and keyboardist for the band. I actually have an autographed CD of theirs that was never released to the general public. She wasn't the sex symbol you see today and was actually very shy.

and many others that I can't recall right now.

I didn't find the iPad's keyboard a deterrent from posting, I'd actually post more as I'm used to typing on an iPhone. If it supported flash and java I'd own one. As is, this creature has caught my eye to replace my laptop completely. It's the Asus EP121 slate boasting a low consumption i5 processor and Windows 7. 12" screen.

* 12.1" WSVGA (1280x800) Capacitive LED Touchscreen; Pen or Finger Touch; Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Operating System
* Intel Core i5-470UM CPU; 2GB of DDR3 1333MHz SDRAM, 1x2GB; 1 slot, 4GB Max; Intel HD Graphics
* 32GB Solid State Drive; Wireless 802.11bgn; Bluetooth 3.0; 2.0MP Webcam; Internal Speaker; Internal Microphone
* Mini HDMI Port; 2 USB 2.0 ports; 2-in-1 Card Reader (SD & MMC); 4 Cell 34W/h Battery (Up to 3 Hours Battery Life)
* Includes Digitizer Pen; Folio Case; Bluetooth Keyboard

There is also a 64gb HD / 4gb memory model for around $100 more so for the slight difference I'll probably go for it. It's available for pre-order, but I'm waiting for some real reviews before I hop on it. On paper it looks like exactly what I want.

first off,ive never heard a good sub in a home enviroment. so i can only compare to the def tech super cube 1 . Without any calibration, i put in armagedon to see if this sealed design would have as much impact as the dt. at first i thought "not much louder) after a while i realised it was much less rumble and way more articulate. i think the def tech was distorting trying to fill this large space at the same levels as the fronts and center, which makes sense to me now. then i put in this years crossroads concert and "thats what im talking about" i can now hear indvidual bass notes as i see them played where before it was like a loud background tone. when i got a new reciever and when i got a blueray player and went to hdmi,i couldnt really tell much of a diffrence, but now im gonna sound like an advetisement" it sounds like i got new speakers and my wife is taping her foot asking who this sonny landreth guy is"
2nd impressions=Im learning about what i thought was bass before was a lot of distortion trying to fill a big space with a small sub. This sub probably isnt for people who want the bass to dominate all the time but for music im forgetting about the speakers more and more which is a good thing. A pleasant suprise came last nite when my wife wanted to wacth harry potter Goblet of fire. The scenes that were meant to be loud and lifelike WERE without vibrating everything. So even though my primary reason to purchase was to increase music clarity and definition, It definitley still outclassed my last sub for this movie.

The first time I heard Matt B's SVS, I was wondering if he had it set up properly (gain, x-over, phase, etc). Everything checked out, but I was confused by the performance of the two 12's. It sounded like it wasn't even on unless some serious Hollywood LFE was happening. When I got back home to my Velodyne, I realized what was wrong... my perception! Car audio "boom" is not good bass. Fun, yes, but not for critical listening. And I was looking for that experience in the home too. These days, I cannot stand my noisemaker. I would drag my sack over a mile of broken glass to pick up an F15 like yours (or maybe two F12's.) The $1000 internet subwoofer market is pretty amazing. They deliver such clean bass, and tons of it. You just have to learn how to recognize it, and then you will NEVER enjoy it any other way!

This thread made me realize that I hadn't checked my sub settings in a while. So last week I re-calibrated everything. And I realized that I had changed sub locations about a year ago, without adjusting the phase. Soooo... after I got that corrected to the best of my ability, I heard bass from my mains again! A little set-up goes a long way. I still hate my sub.

Keep posting your impressions!!!!

this was definitly a cost effective upgrade,i posted earlier That when i upgaraded my reciever and went to blueray And hdmi I couldnt hear much diffrence ,But a better sub makes the whole experiance better. One of the amazing things is when wacthing a movie how (instant from silence) the explosions ect...are. my old sub it was more like a slower buid up although i didnt know that until i upgraded. again for music Im not listening for the deeper notes, Instead enjoying the music more

In that line of thinking, adding bass traps will "wow" you again.
